The Dance Pavilion: Palais de Tokyo's Pavillon meets the Musée de la danse
The Dancing Museum and the Pavillon du Palais de Tokyo have become partners for a project in 3 stages:
March 2010: arrival of the residents from the Pavillon to the Dancing Museum and defining the project with Boris Charmatz
April 2010: residence of the artists from the Pavillon and production of an exhibition on the theme of the “commisssioned service ”. The idea is to commission the 10 young artists to produce copiesof workss related to the Dancing Museum. The artists appropriate the theme and deliver their copies for an exhibition time on Saturday April 10th, from 12:00 to 7:00 PM.
June 2010: after “commisssioned service ”,the residents are asked to create works such as they would have imagined them for the Dancing Museum. This stage of work andexhibition is part of the project “brouillon” initiated and directed by Boris Charmatz.
The artists are invited to leave their artworks at the Dancing Museum.
The Pavillon is the creative laboratory of the Palais de Tokyo à Paris. The Pavillon welcomes every year ten young artists and exhibition curators chosen as the result of an international competition among more than 300 candidates. The programme’s duration is 8 months. The projects proposed to the residents during their stay (exhibitions, publications, workshop) in France or abroad are under the responsability of a guest artist or critic who follows the progress to its conclusion.
