« Rétrospective » par Xavier Le Roy

at Musée de la danse / St Melaine, Rennes,
in the framework of Festival Mettre en Scène
from November 8th to 24th, 2012

An exhibition conceived as a choreography of actions interpreted by nine performers along the duration of the exhibition.

Retrospective" by Xavier Le Roy is an exhibition conceived as a choreography of actions interpreted by nine performers along the duration of the exhibition. This project uses the notion of retrospective as a mode of production. Based on Xavier Le Roy's solo performances created between 1994 and 2010, "Retrospective" aims at recomposing the material of those choreographies in situations challenging the distinction between the conventions of theatre and museum practice. At once viewer and visitor, the public engages in a dialog with the performers who, throughout the exhibition, compose their own retrospective.

November 13th and 14th 2012, 7:30 pm at L'Aire Libre, Saint-Jacques-de-la-LandeThe Festival "Mettre en Scène" presents an exceptional series of three solo works created and interpreted by Xavier Le Roy: Product of Circumstances (1999), Self Unfinished (1998), and Le Sacre du Printemps (2007). By using the absolute minimum, these three performances deploy new perspectives in the art of choreography. Each piece challenges our preconceptions regarding the possibilities of this discipline starting with three different theatrical forms: choreography, conference and concert.
